Independent designer Jordan Rubinstein-Towler has envisioned a modern revival of the iconic Volvo 240 series, creating a fictional 2026 concept that blends the classic boxy design with contemporary elements. His renderings showcase both sedan and wagon variants, maintaining the original’s upright stance and proportions while incorporating features like boxy headlights, a black-pillared greenhouse, and Volvo’s signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlight graphics. Modern touches include streamlined alloy wheels, clean surfacing, and subtle aerodynamic enhancements such as slim bumper intakes and integrated side gills.

Inside, Rubinstein-Towler imagines a minimalist interior that balances nostalgia with innovation. The cabin features a slim, horizontally arranged digital cockpit complemented by tactile physical controls. A four-spoke steering wheel and fabric-upholstered seats with a Scandinavian vibe pay homage to the original 200 Series.

Designed as an electric vehicle, the concept includes a fully sealed grille and lacks exhaust pipes. If brought to production, it could utilize the SPA2 platform shared with Volvo’s EX90 SUV, potentially housing a 111-kWh battery pack and dual electric motors producing up to 510 horsepower.

While this reimagined Volvo 240 remains a digital creation, it offers a thought-provoking blend of classic design and modern technology, sparking discussions about the potential for such a model in today’s automotive market.
