Tesla has officially launched the refreshed version of its Model Y, known as the “Juniper” edition, for the U.S. market. The company made this announcement by updating its U.S. website to showcase the new model, which, at launch, is available in only one trim level: the Long Range all-wheel drive (AWD). Tesla has branded this specific version as the “Launch Series,” giving it a unique identity within the lineup.

Priced at $59,990 before accounting for destination charges, taxes, and applicable incentives, the new Model Y Long Range AWD comes with a significant price increase compared to its predecessor. This updated version costs approximately $12,000 more than the older Long Range AWD trim, reflecting the numerous upgrades and features added to this refreshed model.

One of the key highlights of the Juniper Model Y is its slightly improved range. It now offers an estimated 320 miles on a full charge, which is a modest increase from the previous version’s 311-mile range. Performance enthusiasts will also appreciate its enhanced acceleration, as it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds, a noticeable improvement over the earlier model’s 4.8-second sprint. Additionally, the vehicle supports ultra-fast charging, allowing it to add 154 miles of range in just 15 minutes of DC fast charging, making it an excellent option for road trips and daily commutes alike.

Tesla has equipped the Launch Series with a comprehensive set of features to distinguish it as a premium offering. The model includes Tesla’s Full-Self Driving (Supervised) technology as a standard feature, providing advanced driver assistance capabilities. The interior boasts a vegan suede finish, contributing to a luxurious feel, and unique Launch Series badging further sets this trim apart.

The design of the refreshed Model Y takes inspiration from other Tesla projects, such as the Robotaxi and Cybertruck, giving the vehicle a more futuristic appearance. The exterior now includes a full-width light bar at the front and a prominent light bar at the rear, enhancing its modern aesthetic. Inside the cabin, Tesla has focused on improving comfort and functionality. The updated design introduces acoustic glass and upgraded suspension, reducing road noise and delivering a quieter, smoother ride. Redesigned body castings also contribute to an improved driving experience.

Passengers will notice a host of interior upgrades as well. Rear-seat occupants now have access to an additional 8-inch touchscreen for entertainment and controls, while second-row seats feature power-folding capabilities for added convenience. Ventilated front seats and a traditional turn signal stalk further enhance the vehicle’s usability and comfort.

Tesla plans to begin delivering the U.S.-spec Model Y Juniper in March, marking the start of what is expected to be a significant phase for the automaker. While the Launch Series comes with a higher price tag, Tesla is likely to introduce more affordable trims of the refreshed Model Y in the future, broadening its appeal to a wider audience. Considering that the Model Y was Tesla’s top-selling vehicle and the world’s best-selling car across all categories in 2023, the company is aiming to maintain this momentum. The refreshed Juniper Model Y is expected to play a major role in continuing Tesla’s dominance in the electric vehicle market and further expanding its customer base.
