Honda has officially announced the return of the Acura RSX, this time as a fully electric vehicle (EV) set to debut in 2026. This marks Honda’s first EV built on its proprietary platform, distinguishing it from earlier models like the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, which were developed in collaboration with General Motors.

The new RSX will be the inaugural vehicle to feature Honda’s in-house-developed Asimo operating system (OS). Unveiled at CES earlier this month, the Asimo OS—named after Honda’s renowned humanoid robot—represents the company’s initial venture into software-defined vehicles. This system is designed to provide a personalized mobility experience, integrating vehicle functions with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities.

Production of the Acura RSX EV is slated to commence in late 2025 at Honda’s new manufacturing facility in Ohio. This $4.4 billion plant is a joint venture between Honda and LG Chem, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing electric mobility.

The revival of the RSX nameplate, which was previously associated with Acura’s performance-oriented version of the Honda Integra in the early 2000s, signals Honda’s dedication to delivering a sporty and dynamic driving experience in its electric offerings. The upcoming RSX EV is expected to feature a coupe-like silhouette, aligning with Acura’s performance-focused design direction.

In addition to the RSX, Honda has introduced its new 0 Series line of battery electric vehicles, including the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon prototypes. Both models are scheduled for production in 2026 and will also utilize the Asimo OS, further expanding Honda’s electric vehicle lineup.

The introduction of the Acura RSX EV and the Asimo operating system represents a significant milestone in Honda’s electrification strategy, highlighting the company’s efforts to innovate and lead in the evolving automotive landscape.
