Shelby has unveiled the 2026 GT350 and GT350R, surprising enthusiasts who anticipated a new GT500 based on the S650-generation Ford Mustang. These models surpass the previous S550-based Shelby GT500 in power.

The previous-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 featured a supercharged 5.2L V8 engine producing 760 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. It accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in approximately three seconds and was capable of completing a quarter-mile in ten seconds under optimal conditions.

In contrast, the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 offers a familiar Coyote V8 engine that delivers up to 810 horsepower on 93-octane fuel. For those seeking a less extreme option, there’s a base version with 480 horsepower from the standard 5.0L V8. Both the naturally aspirated and supercharged variants are available with either manual or automatic transmissions.

Technical enhancements include new front and rear sway bars, lowering springs, and a Borla cat-back exhaust system for an enhanced driving experience. The car features 20-inch alloy wheels (9.5×20 front and 11×20 rear) equipped with performance tires. Design elements encompass dual racing stripes, a three-piece front apron, an aggressive grille insert, a ducktail spoiler, and subtle Shelby badging. For a more aggressive appearance, you can opt for a large wing and a carbon fiber package.

Inside, special sill plates welcome you upon opening the doors, and the dashboard displays a plaque indicating the build number. The model includes Shelby embroidery, leather upholstery, and embroidered floor mats. Choosing the manual transmission variant provides a ball shifter for an added touch.

The 2025 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is even more powerful, with its 5.0L supercharged V8 engine producing over 830 horsepower. The GT350R is exclusively available with a six-speed manual transmission. Additional features include chassis enhancements, Gold Rush brake calipers, an aluminum hood, vented carbon fiber front fenders, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, a carbon fiber wing, and unique interior accents.

Production of the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R will take place in Michigan by Turn Key Automotive, with a limited run of 36 units.
