Challenger X Range is a Smart, Stylish Camper Lineup With a Clever Interior and Spacious Garage

One of the best parts of exploring the RV world is coming across innovative designs that push the boundaries of comfort and practicality. European camper styling has been making waves globally, and one standout lineup comes from Challenger Motorhomes, a French brand that’s been crafting motorhomes since 1985. With decades of experience, Challenger has created the X Range, a collection of oversized camper vans that blend the best of both van life and Class C motorhome luxury.

A Camper Van That Thinks Like a Class C

The X Range is designed to comfortably accommodate up to four travelers while maintaining a sleek, van-style profile. Available in two models—the X150 and X250—these campers maximize space with an intelligent interior layout that adapts to different needs throughout the day.

A Transformative Living Space

Step inside the X250, and the first thing you’ll notice is the adaptable living area. At the front, two swivel seats pair with a dinette, forming the heart of the camper’s social space. This area serves as a dining spot during the day and, at night, transforms into a sleeping space for two. But where do the other two travelers sleep?

That’s where European ingenuity comes into play. The X Range includes a drop-down bed that remains tucked away in the ceiling during the day, then lowers at night to create a full four-person sleeping setup. This clever solution frees up valuable floor space without sacrificing comfort.

Functional and Stylish Interior

Beyond the sleeping arrangements, the X Range offers a full kitchen, a compact but functional wet bath, and a spacious wardrobe with direct access to a unique gear garage in the X250 layout.

  • Kitchen: A modern galley with a cooktop, stove, sink, and a flush countertop for meal prep. A large fridge is positioned across from the kitchen in the RV to keep traffic flow smooth.
  • Bathroom: The X250 features a space-saving wet bath, while the X150 expands the bathroom across the rear, making it more spacious.
  • Wardrobe & Storage: The X250’s standout feature is the Smart Dressing Room, an automated drop-down wardrobe system that optimizes storage.

Premium materials, soft-touch fabrics, and LED lighting create a refined and cozy atmosphere. Large windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the feeling of openness.

Light Off-Grid Capabilities

While the X Range isn’t a full off-grid beast out of the box, it does come with a standard AGM battery and pre-wiring for solar panels. Challenger also offers optional upgrade packages for those looking to make their camper all-season and better suited for boondocking.

The X250’s Hidden Garage

One of the most ingenious features of the X250 is its rear gear garage. When the dressing room is lifted, it reveals a spacious storage area large enough for e-bikes, camping gear, portable generators, and more. This design makes it easy to bring along everything needed for an extended adventure.

Price and Availability

Pricing for the X250 starts at around €85,000 (approximately $87,500), but final costs will depend on dealer pricing, features, and optional upgrades. While European RV design is becoming more popular in North America, it’s still rare to find models like this stateside. However, with increasing demand for smarter, more modular campers, it’s only a matter of time before similar designs hit the U.S. market.

For now, the Challenger X Range sets a high standard for what a modern, space-efficient, and stylish camper can be.
